Happy Father's Day
I know I'm a bit behind with this post, but we've been busy these days. This Father's Day, my sister, Kim and her family came over to celebrate with us. It was so fun to have them over and I love seeing the cousins play together. It was a laid-back celebration and the dads grilled brats for lunch while Kim and I got things ready inside. Good times!
I can't believe I was able to get a shot of everyone looking at the same time!!! Look at those cute kiddos!
Andy got a Father's Day gift from AJ and I, and following in Karly's tradition, Kyra sat with him while he opened it. Such a pretty smile. AJ gave his dad a framed drawing of the first time he made circles! Andy took it to put on his desk at work. Fine art, I tell you.
Later in the day after AJ's nap, Andy spent some quality time with AJ reading the current favorite library book, Listen to the City. AJ loves the pages with the cars and trucks the best (what a shocker!) and the page with the barking dogs is a close second.
OK, this may look weird, but there's a story behind this picture...when Kim and I were preparing to set the table, Karly picked out a kangaroo Zoo Pal plate, which is apparently a very cool thing to have as a 4 yr old. She also got to have a real metal fork (whereas Kyra and AJ had to use plastic baby forks). Being very excited, she went outside to show Andy and Brandon. But...it was windy that day, and though Andy had just put up the chickenwire (see past balcony makeover post), the wind took the plate and tossed it over the balcony ledge! Oh the tears! The fork was gone too. Luckily it was a new pack of plates and there was another kangaroo. So, fast forward to later that night, when Andy and I took AJ for a back-alley walk to look for the missing fork. There was not a fork to be found (until days later STILL ON THE BALCONY!) but we did come across a homeless kangaroo that looked very familiar squatting under our building's loading dock. hmmm...
